2) Personal statement:
I have very big ambitions, I would like to fulfil my dreams and become a singer or an actress in the field of Musical Theatre. I am hard working and determined and always try to do the best I can. At the age of 15 I came to Great Britain, to begin my education here, I have worked hard to achieve my dreams. I always try to do my job precisely and accurately.
I am currently studying BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Musical Theatre at Leyton Sixth Form College. Last year I have achieved a distinction in the 90 credit Diploma Musical Theatre. During that year I took part in 2 performances with my class. I performed in a Modern Musical Show Case and The Best of British Show Case at Leyton Sixth Form College. I was chosen twice to perform a solo, one of the solos was “Everything is alright” from Jesus Christ Superstar and the other solo was called “Out here on my own” from Fame. To improve my vocal skills I am taking private singing lessons with my college teacher as well as a vocal teacher from outside of the college. These two additional lessons have helped me to improve my technique in singing as well as work on my weaknesses. I love competitions, I competed in LSC got talent and came second and I have also auditioned for Britain’s X-Factor. I have created a performance at the Barbican Theatre London about equal rights for women, I worked with a complicit mentor on a physical theatre piece. Working in that style taught me to communicate in a physical language. As part of my work experience I took part in a residency with professional dancer Anna Watkins. We worked intensely as a company to create a contemporary dance piece. Additionally I am taking part in Salsa classes outside of college. This helped me to improve my technique in dancing, and develop my confidence. Furthermore, I received a Bronze QML Award.
Music is my passion, my strongest styles are pop, ballads and some rock. This is shown through my life experiences. Ever since I learned how to speak I began singing, when I was 5 years old (2001-2015), I began to sing in a folk band called ‘Siekiereczki’ whom I still perform with when I’m in Poland. We were travelling across the country winning competitions, which helped me to begin my musical career. I took part in many school performances, which boosted my confidence and developed my acting as well as vocal skills. My biggest idol on which I grew up on is a Polish band called 'Lzy'- Ania Wyszkoni, it was her that inspired me to start singing. I am also inspired by artists such as Celine Dion and Michael Jackson.
I’m interested in many things such as astronomy. I like to read in my free time about the stars and planets and also watch the moon through a telescope at home. I also like to read books; my favourite genre is fantasy books. I read them because I like to move in that world and be able to imagine myself sometimes being in such fantasy world, or be able to play the main character and experience the fantasy world as if I am part of it. I love animals and in my spare time I would like to help them especially if they have went through rough experiences with previous owners. I got good strength and stamina, I enjoy being physically active. I like to play sports in my spare time, of which I enjoy, playing volleyball the most; I am in the college team. Accompanied by other sports such as swimming, football and many others.
I am applying to you because music is my passion and my biggest dream is to become a singer or actress. I believe that your university will help to develop my musical skills as well as gain experience in the profession I am seeking. I am a quick learner and very determined and I am able to adapt to new situations easily. I am hard working and determined and look forward to the next three years of further education.
Here I'm pasting the pictures from my power point presentation about my 5 choices for the next year:
